CSIR 800 focuses to cater to the needs of the majority of indian population through S&T intervention.  The idea has basically been conceived at the CSIR level and spread over its various research institutes to contribute to. Major R&D work under this programme relate to non-conventional energy, housing, potable water etc. In this context, AMPRI’s contribution has been in terms of the utilization of abundantly available sisal fibres into useful products like handicrafts and roofing sheets; industrial wastes like flyash for agricultural soil reclamation; polymeric redmud and flyash composites as wood substitute in building applications, redmud  radiation shielding material, formulation of a model for the dissemination of technologies to the rural masses, collection of plants and their extract for assessing medicinal values, bell metal technology, and hydrofracturing of clogged bore wells.
